History
Becoming an artist is my third career, but one that has long been a dream come true. I retired from my first career of teaching after twenty-seven years. This included high school, elementary, junior high and adult education in Orange County Schools, Orlando, Florida.
While living in Orlando, I had the opportunity to study art under Clayton Martindale, an oil painter, illustrator, as well as an accomplished teacher from Chicago. These classes included architectural rendering, which I considered as a career, but found it did not suit my natural impressionist style.
Before coming to Orlando, I taught school in Arizona and received a Master's Degree in education from Arizona State University at Tempe. I developed a deep love of the desert landscapes and sold my first painting on this subject.
My desire is to capture some of the beauty of light as reflected in a landscape. I consider trees one of the most beautiful things God has ever created and never tire of painting them in all their varieties in watercolor and acrylic.
I am married, have four children and eleven grandchildren who often become subjects for portraits. h
